Australia Women took Bangladesh Women in a David vs Goliath matchup in the ICC Women’s World Cup at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The game started with a rain delay, causing a reduction in overs to 43. But as Amanda Schutt came to bowl something unusual happened.
Opener Murshida Khatun halted Schutt in the middle of her run-up as strong and speedy Wellington winds had knocked the bails off. Everyone around the wicket broke out laughing as Australian wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy ran from her mark to reset the fallen bails. The wind speed in Wellington was calculated to an average around 45kmph making it one of the windiest grounds in world cricket.

But despite having a difficult World Cup campaign, the Bangladesh Women have had some incredible moments in the tournament. Especially against Australia, they displayed a lot of vigour as they scored a decent 135 in their first innings. All-rounder Lata Mondal top-scored with 33 while opener Sharmin Akhter also scored a decent 24.
In the second innings, the Bangladesh Women's bowling line-up managed to pick up some early wickets as they dismissed Alyssa Healy in the second over. Then Salma Khatun cleaned up the highest-run scorer of the tournament, Meg Lanning for a duck. But the Aussies weathered the early storm and chased the lofty target in 32.1 overs. Beth Mooney top-scored with her 66 as she batted with Annabel Sutherland who scored 26 and hit the winning runs.
