The deciding third day of the 3rd Test is underway and the hosts have started things on a high. Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada made sure that their team get things right on target from the start as they took two quick wickets. On the back of some venomous bowling and acrobatic fielding effort, South Africa managed two wickets in the first two overs on Day 3 to push India on back-foot. While Jansen accounted for Cheteshwar Pujara, Kagiso Rabada once again got Rahane with a peach of a delivery, However, Keegan Petersen’s catch to dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara was the highlight of the morning.
After scoring a gritty half-century to keep South Africa in the game, Petersen held on to an extremely tough chance off Marco Jansen. On the second delivery of the 18th over of India’s second innings, Jansen bowled a short-pitch delivery into Pujara’s body. The Indian batter looked in a dilemma whether to leave or play and ended up guiding it towards the leg gully region. The ball seemed to be falling in between the keeper and the fielder at leg gully but Petersen made a full-length dive towards his right and grabbed the ball with one hand.

India in trouble after two quick wickets
After Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane once again fell cheaply. The former vice-captain looked in all sorts of trouble against Kagiso Rabada right from the first delivery. And it did not take long for Rabada to remove Rahane as he got him with a pearler. Rabada too bowled a short pitch delivery but this one was way too good for a batter to miss. After pitching on the shorter side of good length, the ball kicked up and came at an awkward height for the batter. Rahane, who has been struggling for so long, could do nothing but glove it to the keeper.
However, it was not an easy take as the ball continued to climb up on the keeper as well. Kyle Verryenne tried his best but only help the ball into Elgar’s hands who watched the ball attentively.
