The 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams made a forgettable come back to the grass court as she was outplayed by Harmony Tan, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(7) in the first round of the ongoing Wimbledon Championships. Arguably the greatest women’s singles player of all time, Serena, had not played a game since the 2021 edition of the tournament and was expected to deliver an impressive performance but she surrendered in the first round, prompting a shocking exit.

Ahed of the Championships, the seven-time champion joined hands with Ons Jabeur to play the doubles at Eastbourne International and advanced to the semi-final stage, but unfortunately, Jabeur had to pull out of the tournament due to injury concerns. However, the results have not seemed to dampen her spirits.

In a recent update, she was seen showing off her dance moves to one of the songs from Beyonce’s album ‘Break My Soul.’ Serena Williams posted a video of herself on Instagram stories dancing to the tune and spending quality time with herself.

After a horrific Wimbledon outing, Serena Williams also commented on her retirement plans as she stated that even she is now aware of the answer to that question. “That’s a question I can’t answer [on returning to Wimbledon next year]. I don’t know. Who knows? Who knows if I’ll be there or not,” Williams said. However, she didn’t deny the rumours and she hinted that it will depend on her physical capabilities but she will try her best to bounce back and compete at her best capacities.

Responding to the questions about participating in the U.S Open in two months, she said, “That is the first place where I have won a Grand Slam (in 1999), and it’s a special venue for me. There is definitely a lot of motivation to get better and to play at home.”

Earlier, Serena Williams expressed her wish to take a wild card entry into Wimbledon to undo her memories from the All England Cup. Last year in June, she tore her hamstring in a first-round match and withdrew herself from the competition. Ever since that her participation in future tournaments have remained in doubt and several pundits have suggested that she should retire from professional tennis.
