Indian pacer Umesh Yadav became one of the many Indian cricketers to play in England’s domestic circuit when he signed for Middlesex County Cricket Club for the remainder of the 2022 season. The 34-year-old Indian quick bowler also made his County Championship debut against Worcestershire on Monday and as expected, Yadav made a mark straightaway.

The right-arm quick straightaway found his rhythm as he claimed his maiden wicket in County Championship in his first spell itself. Yadav cleaned up Worcestershire’s Taylor Cornall with a vicious inswinger to claim his first wicket. Given the responsibility to bowl the 20th over, Yadav bowled brilliantly in the over and set up Cornall nicely.

On the last ball of the over, the right-arm quick bowled a length delivery that swung after pitching on the off-stump and breached the batter’s defense. The ball then rattled the stumps with the batter left in shock and disbelief.

The club shared the video of Yadav’s first wicket and wished for him to get more such. “Take a look at @y_umesh's first wicket in a Middlesex shirt. More of the same to come throughout the summer,” wrote Middlesex while sharing the video of the dismissal.

Notably, Umesh Yadav signed for the club after getting visa clearance and is expected to play a vital role in the Middlesex setup. The Club’s Head of Men’s Performance Cricket, Alan Coleman also hoped for Yadav to guide the younger players during his stay at the club.

“He comes to us with a wealth of experience, he is a proven world-class performer, and can not only make a huge difference himself for the remainder of our Championship campaign and to our prospects in the Royal London Cup but will also be a fantastic role model for our younger bowlers to work alongside,” said Coleman after Yadav’s signing.
