Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are the two most decorated cricketers of all time, and the duo has brought several laurels to Indian cricket, including the 2011 ICC World Cup. While Sachin retired from international cricket in 2013, Virat Kohli carried on his idol's rich legacy and became the most lethal batter of his generation. Kohli often expressed his admiration for Sachin and how the latter motivated him in his career.

Sachin has now revealed how Virat displayed respect by giving him a prized possession. In one of his recent interviews, Master Blaster revealed that Kohli gave him a sacred thread given by the latter's late father, Prem Kohli, on the occasion of his retirement. The 'God of Cricket' informed that he kept the thread for some time but later returned it to Kohli. In a chat with Graham Bensinger, Tendulkar revealed the reason behind returning the sacred thread.

Recalling the moment from his last international game, Sachin revealed, "I was sitting all alone and had some tears in my eyes. Kohli came to me and gave me that sacred thread that his father had given him. I got more emotional after listening to Kohli, and we together talked for a brief period."

Adding further, Tendulkar admitted that he kept the thread for some time but later returned it to Kohli. "I told him that it belongs to you. It was one of your father's valuable memory and it belongs to no one. I also told him to keep it till his last breath", revealed Tendulkar.

During a chat, Tendulkar went on to reveal yet another interesting fact. He revealed that he was unaware of how much he was earning during his entire career. "While the bank account was understandable big, I only focused on scoring runs and never got indulged into specifics of my bank account," Tendulkar revealed.
