Things have not started well for Royal Challengers Bangalore and their captain Virat Kohli. RCB was handed a humiliating defeat by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first game of the second leg. Virat Kohli looked in all sorts of trouble while batting and could only manage five runs before departing in the very second over of the match.

Kohli was playing his 200th game for RCB and a night before, he had announced that he will step down from captaincy after the completion of this edition. The talks around the impact of this decision on his performance in the next game also did rounds. However, coach Mike Hesson dismissed anything like that and even said that Kohli is ‘desperate’ to do well and it’s evident from Virat’s latest workout session in the gym.

Virat Kohli on Thursday shared a small clip from his gym session in which he can be seen working really hard on his fitness, as he usually does. He is seen working on his lower body strength. Kohli captioned the post, “Rise & Grind”.

RCB to face CSK tonight

Virat Kohli-led RCB will face MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, who has been in sublime form lately, tonight in Sharjah. CSK defeated arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their first game of the second leg. Meanwhile, RCB will be a bit on the backfoot after their humiliating defeat against KKR on Monday, September 20. Additionally, the Virat Kohli-led side doesn't have a good past record against the Yellow Army. The last time they met, Ravindra Jadeja thrashed Harshal Patel, the purple cap holder, for 37 runs in an over and then dismissed de Villiers and Maxwell cheaply.

Thus, tonight’s game will be really challenging and important for RCB if they want to finish in the top four. Sharjah’s boundaries are small and will suit RCB but CSK’s batters have been in good form as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad enjoys playing in the UAE. He has done exceptionally well for CSK at the top of the order while for RCB, their openers need to make the most of the powerplay.
