Team India are on their way to a comfortable win in the first ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue were clinical in their performance right from the outset. Even the toss went in their favour and Rohit Sharma opted to field first. The hosts then dismissed the West Indies for 176. It looked pretty worse at one stage but Jason Holder’s fighting fifty made sure they post a total of some respectability.

During the West Indies innings, however, there were certain moments that grabbed the attention of the Indian fans. One such moment came in the 12th over of their innings when Virat Kohli, no longer an India skipper in any format, seem to be signalling a change in the field. What followed was rather special as Washington Sundar immediately got a wicket.

The video of the same has since then gone viral.

Meanwhile, Rohit and Virat’s bromance on the field also made a few headlines. The two were seen celebrating the fall of West Indies captain Kieron Pollard for a duck by high-fiving each other before they went to congratulate the bowler Yuzvendra Chahal. Later, Virat even convinced Rohit Sharma to take a DRS which ensured another West Indies batter departed after the on-field umpire had judged Shamarh Brooks not out.

However, the wait for a commanding Kohli performance with the bat continued as he departed for 8 runs from 4 balls after coming to bat with a great platform set up by Rohit Sharma’s fine half-century. Kohli started off with two boundaries but could not carry the performance for long and fell to Alzarri Joseph.

Despite a few wickets in the middle overs, India are favourites to reach their target and take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. The Indian team was hit by COVID-19 before the start of the series and it would be interesting to see if there are any changes made to the side if the players who contracted the infection recover in time for the remaining matches.
