The Indian Premier League is one of the most exciting T20 tournaments in the world, without a doubt. The mega platform gives a unique opportunity to so many domestic stars to show their potential in front of the whole world. The audacity with which the debutants play against world-class international cricketers is something that often leaves everyone in shock.
Although we have seen many such cases in past, another glimpse of the same was witnessed during Match 31 of IPL 2021 on Monday. Kolkata Knight Riders made a surprise inclusion of young Madhya Pradesh's all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer in their playing XI. Although it looked like they wanted to strengthen their lower middle-order while giving themselves an extra bowling option, the franchise had totally different plans for the player.
Much to everyone's surprise, Iyer walked out to open the innings alongside Shubman Gill. The move certainly paid off as the 26-year-old played a fluent knock (41* off 27) to take his side over the line. The left-handed batsman played some outrageous shots, ranging from switch-hits to extravagant drives, which made the knock so special. After the match, the debutant celebrated his heroics in the best way possible as he had a fruitful conversation with captain of Team India, Virat Kohli.
Iyer takes batting tips from Kohli after the match
The video was posted by the Kolkata Knight Riders on social media where Virat Kohli can be seen giving some batting tips to Venkatesh Iyer. It looked like the 26-year-old was telling the RCB captain about an issue he faces while facing short-pitch deliveries, while Kohli tried to give him some advise with how he can work on his feet movement to get in a better position to play or leave bouncers.
Kohli also went on to give an example of himself while revealing the reason behind his dismissal on Monday, where he was adjudged LBW off the bowling of Prasidh Krishan. He said, "I got out today because I predicted before that he (Krishna) might bowl back of length. I had already made up my mind to hit it for a boundary on the off side."

While the RCB captain did not have a great outing on the field, it was brilliant to see his gesture to talk to an IPL debutant and provide him with some batting tips after the match, which is something that makes this tournament very special.
