April 24 is the birthday of one of the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. Sachin Tendulkar turns 49 on this date and wishes have been pouring in for the “God of Cricket” from all corners of the world. The Master Blaster still holds the record for the most runs in Test matches and One Day Internationals along with the maximum centuries scored in international cricket close to 9 years after he retired from the sport.

For India, Tendulkar remains a symbol of hope, joy, belief and much more. It is fitting then to say that he became the first sportsperson to be awarded the Bharat Ratna – the nation’s highest civilian honour. On his special day on Sunday, his opening partner from playing days, Virender Sehwag also took to social media to wish him but in his own quirky way.

Viru shared a video in which he is having bananas while explaining the reason behind it. He says that Tendulkar’s biggest expectation from him, even more than scoring runs, was that he remained silent while watching the match from the dressing room. This was the reason the Mumbaikar often gave him bananas so that Sehwag would remain silent as he would be busy eating the fruit.

On the cricketing legend’s birthday, Sehwag said that he is gifting Sachin his silence.

“Birthday greetings to the great man @sachin_rt Paaji. Aur Aapke janamdin par yeh tohfa humne apne aap ko diya hai 😛 #HappyBirthdaySachin,” he captioned the video.

Tendulkar is currently with the Mumbai Indians as their Mentor in the IPL. With Mumbai playing a fixture at the Wankhede Stadium – the place where Sachin played most of his cricket and is recognised as his home ground – a big party with the entire crowd cheering for him is expected at the stadium tonight.

However, more than that, Mumbai Indians would want to pull off a win as a tribute and a gift to the legend in their dugout, something they haven’t been able to do in the seven matches so far. The first ball of Mumbai’s match against Lucknow Super Giants is set to be bowled at 7:30 pm IST.
