Gujarat take the lead in first half

The summit clash of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) started on a cracking note for Gujarat Titans (GT) as they removed one of the RR openers within the first six overs itself. Yashashwi Jaiswal, who threatened with a few lusty blows perished while trying to take on Yash Dayal. He tried to pull a short-ball from Dayal but could not time the shot and was caught by the deep midwicket fielder.

However, Samson and Buttler tried to take the attack to Gujarat but Hardik Pandya had other plans. The GT captain took out his counterpart with a genuine hard-length delivery. The onus was then on Buttler to propel RR to a big total which the Englishman tried to do. But on a night when Pandya was turning everything to gold he was touching, Buttler too could not do much. He also perished to Hardik after scoring 39 off 35 balls.
