Head coach Ricky Ponting came out with a rather amusing way of improving the fielding standards of his side ahead of their first game of IPL 2021 against CSK. The video of the same is doing the rounds on the internet. While Ponting can be seen introducing the drills to the players, the squad is then divided into two groups who are said to compete against each other. The former Australia captain can be seen saying that the losing side will have to perform 50 push-ups with the team that performs the drill more accurately.

As part of the drill, the players had to aim at the stump from a distance and then go on to perform another drill. Eventually, captain Rishabh Pant's team won. Although he himself failed to hit the stumps, Sam Billings managed to hit the target. Chris Woakes' side lost the drill, however, and had to perform 50 push-ups. The video of the incident was shared on social media and is trending across platforms.

In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who underwent shoulder surgery on Thursday and will take time to recover, Pant has been appointed captain of the franchise for this season. While he has been in great form with the bat in the last six months, it would be his maiden stint as captain in IPL. DC meet CSK in their first game on Saturday.
