Although the all-rounder Ryan Burl was struggling to convert his starts into a big innings in international cricket, he has turned the table in his recent outing for Zimbabwe. Coming at a precarious situation, Burl played a blinder of an innings to help Zimbabwe win the T20I series 2-1 against Bangladesh at Harare Sports Club.
Burl arrived at crease when the hosts were at 55/5 in the 10th over. He set his eyes on the crease and perfectly gauged the pitch behaviour. In the 15th over, Tigers captain Mossaddek Hossain invited the left-arm spinner, Nasum Ahmed to bowl, which proved to be a costly mistake.
The first ball was a half-volley, which was sent for a six towards the long-on area. The next one witnessed the southpaw hitting the half-pitched balls to the square-leg region for a maximum. The third ball was similar to the previous delivery and was sent to the cleaners towards the deep mid-wicket boundary with ease.

Riding on the momentum, Burl smashed a floater towards the deep mid-wicket, but the ball was sent way back to the stands, with a sweet sound of the willow. The fifth ball fetched him a four towards the straightish boundary cushions.
The last ball of the over was a perfectly executed ball towards the offside, which was a little far away from the range of Burl. However, the 28-year-old was in such a good flow, that he hit a clean shot towards the long-off area to make it 34 runs off one over.
Along with Burl’s 54 off 28 balls, Luke Jongwe’s 20-ball 35 helped Zimbabwe to post 156 on the board. In response, Bangladesh could only score 146, with the top contribution of 39 from Afif Hossain. Victor Nyauchi was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe with three scalps.
