After the news of death of legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh was confirmed on Friday night, the whole nation went into a state of grief. The 91-year-old passed away due to COVID-19 complications, only five days after the death of his wife. Although he had tested negative for Coronavirus earlier this week, his health had deteriorated because of the virus.

To give a tribute to one of the sporting gems that the nation has ever produced, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned down a heartfelt post on Twitter.

In an emotional post on Twitter, India's Prime Minister hailed Milkha Singh as "a colossal sportsperson", who captured the nation’s imagination and had a special place in the hearts of countless Indians. "His inspiring personality endeared himself to millions. Anguished by his passing away," he added.
