Indian weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar won the first medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 as he clinched silver in the men’s 55 kg category. As soon as he lifted the silver medal, Twitterati went abuzz to congratulate the 21-year-old Indian weightlifter.
Sanket started the competition by making three clean attempts of 107kg, 111kg and 113kg in the snatch lifting to lead the men’s 55 kg weightlifting category. Later, he lifted 135 kg in clean and jerk to take his total to 248 kgs but failed to lift 139 in his second two attempts and secured the silver medal.
