Cricket West Indies named a 13-member squad for the first 2 T20Is of the upcoming 5-match T20I series against South Africa. Led by Trinidad’s Kieron Pollard, the squad features T20I specialists including Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder amongst others, however, star batsman Shimron Hetmyer fails to make the cut. The 13-member squad’s highlight is the return of all-rounder Andre Russell, who hasn’t represented his country since March 2020.

Andre Russell likely to feature in the 1st T20I against South Africa

Power-hitter Andre Russell returns to the West Indies squad as the board named a 13-member squad for the 1st and 2nd T20I against South Africa. The all-rounder last donned West Indies in the T20I against Sri Lanka in March 2020.

“Andre Russell will add that ‘X’ factor to the team. He is an impact player with both bat and ball and lends greater depth in both departments,” emphasized Chief Selector Roger Harper.
