While most fans and experts predicted an India win in the first ODI of the three-match series against West Indies, and that's exactly how it started with the visitors taking a 1-0 lead, the hosts must be credited for their effort. They found a way to come back into the match after the Indian batters seemed to be taking their total to an insurmountable figure before almost managing to reach their target.

If this is a hint of things to come, one could expect a couple more thrilling encounters in the series. The second ODI of this bilateral affair will be staged on July 24 and before things get underway at the Port of Spain in Trinidad, here is a stat-based prediction of what all could unfold in this fixture.

1. Toss Prediction

West Indies won the only toss of the series so far. However, this is their only toss win if we look at their last three matches while this was India's only toss lost in their last three matches. So going by that stat, predicting India to win the toss in the second ODI.

2. Win Possibility

Despite a spirited performance from West Indies, one would suggest India have a better chance of winning the second ODI. This is because another way looking at the opening fixture would be to see the lost opportunities by India to kill the game which resulted in the match going down to the wire.

3. Team of the Day

Not only did India register a win in the series opener but they further improved their head-to-head record against West Indies in ODIs. The Indian team now has 68 wins in 137 matches. The Caribbean side has won on 63 occasions. Two matches have ended tied with 4 ending without any result. This makes picking Team of the Day even easier and it has to be India.

4. Powerplay Score (First 10 overs)

India made 73 runs in the first 10 overs in the opening ODI. On the other hand, West Indies made 52 runs. Given that the second ODI will also be played at the same venue, expecting both teams to score over 50 runs in the first 10 overs.

5. Average Score

With the first ODI scores taken into consideration, the average first innings total at this venue in the last 2 matches where the complete quota of 50 overs have been bowled is over 290. Don't be surprised to see another high-scoring match on Sunday.
