Ninth loss in the eleventh game for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2022. Such has been the story for the five-time champions in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rohit Sharma-led team have not been able to hold on to crunch moments and that has cost them many games this season.

The same happened against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday evening (09 May). After restricting KKR to a chasable total of 165/9 on the back of Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance, Mumbai were bundled out for a mere 113 and lost the game by 52 runs eventually. Ishan Kishan played through and also scored a half-century but that proved insufficient for MI. After Kishan’s 51, Pollard’s 15 was the second-highest score for MI.

Meanwhile, for KKR, Pat Cummins impressed with a three-wicket haul at the expense of 22 runs in his four overs. Andre Russell’s 2/22 and Tim Southee’s 1/10 also helped KKR’s cause in defeating MI for the second time in the tournament. As KKR beat Mumbai for the second time in a row, Twitter users hailed the Shreyas Iyer-led team.
