Everyone is stunned at the latest turn of events in the footballing world. Legendary footballer Lionel Messi failed to reach an agreement with FC Barcelona and is set to depart from the club which he had joined as a 13-year-old. The news broke out on Thursday that the Argentine superstar would not be continuing at Camp Nou due to "financial and structural obstacles" and since then there have been all kinds of speculations regarding his future.

Paris Saint-Germain are being regarded as the frontrunners to include Messi in their squad at the moment and Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that it is in fact Messi's former teammate and friend Neymar who is the catalyst in this transfer window. Romano added that they are "confident" they will be able to make the star Argentine their player.

"Paris Saint-Germain are close to sign Leo Messi, confirmed. PSG are preparing the official contract until June 2023 to be submitted to Messi and his father Jorge in the next hours," the transfer expert mentioned on social media.

"Messi’s open to join PSG. Neymar was pushing in the last 24h. PSG are so, so confident," he added.

Other than PSG, Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea are also believed to be considering bids for the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, with Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich reportedly requesting a meeting with the star Argentine.

Amid all kinds of uncertainty, one thing seems to be certain if Messi indeed joins PSG colours, they would make for a threatening first XI with several of the great footballers of the current generation in their side. The Ligue 1 giants already have a very busy market and aiming to build a squad that could help them achieve their Champions League title.

In what could likely be one of the most spell-bounding and jaw-dropping front three in the history of football, Messi might join the likes of Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe in the attack. Moreover, Ramos is likely to join Marqinhos and Presnel Kimpembe in what looks like a solid and reliable back three. Hakimi should also retain his position as the right-wing back, with Juan Bernat being the left-wing back. Wijnaldum and Di Maria might just push each other for a place in the XI or Di Maria might even be looked at as a substitute. He could be joined by Marco Verratti in the midfield.

Meanwhile, Donarumma looks likely to be the preferred choice for the goalkeeper position.

Here is what the XI could look like

Goalkeeper: Donarumma

Defenders: Ramos, Marqinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Juan Bernat, Hakimi

Midfielders: Wijnaldum/Di Maria, Marco Verratti

Forwards: Messi, Neymar, Mbappe
