The biggest story that is doing the rounds all over the internet today is about the possible ban that the famous social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook etc. could face from May 26 onwards. Notably, the Indian Government had released a few new Intermediary Guidelines for these sites and the deadline to comply with these guidelines will end today (May 25). While there is no clarity on how things will unfold from here on, let us consider this scenario and have a look at what the cricketers could be up to if all the social media platforms were banned in the country.

1. Virat Kohli

Team India skipper is the most followed cricketer on social media with 120 million followers. Virat Kohli is quite active on Instagram and is often seen using the platform to raise awareness about various social issues. However, nothing has ever stopped the 32-year-old from doing what he wants to do and it would be the same case here. Virat Kohli will instead start spending more time in gym and focus on his fitness, something he is very passionate about. While there will be some sense of disappointment on losing out on such a huge following on social media with the ban, the thought of getting more time to workout could make him rather happy.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin

The incredible all-rounder might be one of the happiest cricketers with the social media platforms getting banned in India. But why? While Ashwin is fairly active on all these platforms, his major focus has always been on YouTube which is not under any scrutiny. The 34-year-old has more than 650,000 subscribers there and he would happily welcome the ban. With all his other teammates looking for a platform to talk to their fans, Ashwin might instead call them on his channel which will drive more and more subscribers to his page. Maybe, this is why it is said that whenever any kind of spin is on offer (in cricket or in life), Ashwin knows how to use it to his advantage!

3. Wasim Jaffer

The ban on social media sites, especially Twitter is going to be a huge blow for Wasim Jaffer. The former Indian cricketer is one of the most active people on that platform and is known as king of cricket memes. The 43-year-old has a massive following on Twitter with his witty and humorous tweets often the talk of the town. Jaffer and all the fans will be quite sad as the big question will be - Who will reply to Michael Vaughan's controversial tweets? While he is still associated with cricket as head coach of Punjab Kings, he might just look to start off a new career in stand-up comedy as a hobby which works quite well on YouTube. With the kind of rib-tickling humour inside the head of Jaffer, he will definitely give a run of money to all the stand-up comedians in India.

4. Yuzvendra Chahal

The Indian leg-spinner is one of the most fun characters on social media, especially Instagram. Yuzvendra Chahal loves making hilarious short videos of his acting, dancing or something random. The 30-year-old would have been quite sad after the ban of TikTok in India, where he had quite a huge following. However, Insta Reels feature gave him a similar platform to post his stuff. But with ban of Instagram as well, it is certainly going to disappoint Chahal. Everyone would be afraid that with no social media platforms left for the leggie, the RCB player might well switch back to pursue his profession of Income Tax officer. A message to everyone with any tax discrepancy, please beware of Chahal now!

5. MS Dhoni

The former Indian captain will be the least concerned player with the ban on social media platforms as captain cool has never been quite active on social media. MS Dhoni is enjoying his post retirement life with his family and spends the rest of the time doing organic farming in Ranchi. Since his retirement post last year, the 39-year-old has only posted once on Instagram and that too about the strawberries from his own farm. Hence, it is certain that MSD would not have to bother at all with this ban and he can continue doing what he has been doing since quite a long time. No matter how big the fire is, captain cool is least affected by it!
