The historic victory at Wankhede Stadium in the 2011 World Cup final wrote a golden chapter in Indian cricket. While the triumph was achieved due to collective efforts from the Indian team under the leadership of MS Dhoni, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir's best knock came in the most crucial game of the tournament, i.e. the final. Gambhir steadied India's innings and scored 97runs which helped India win the game by six wickets.

While the World Cup triumph was life-changing for every player and moment to cheer for cricket fans, Gambhir's then-girlfriend and now-wife had a different perspective. While participating in Jatin Sapru's YouTube channel, Gambhir recently recalled that Natasha had turned down his offer of a free ticket for the final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

However, Gambhir informed that Natasha's sister and brother attended the game. The former cricketer revealed that his better half understood the game's gravity after she witnessed the entire nation going berserk over celebrating the victory. He said, "After we won the game, Natasha asked me why everyone was celebrating so much? Then I educated her by saying that we have won the World Cup after 20-odd years."

As per Gambhir, Natasha still feels embarrassed of rejecting the offer if anyone raises the topic.

Gambhir's instrumental knock-in World Cup came when India struggled to bat as both of its openers, Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag, were dismissed cheaply while chasing 275. But, Gambhir and Virat helped the side to survive and later played a crucial innings with then skipper MS Dhoni who was unbeaten at 91. MS Dhoni had hit the winning six off Lasith Malinga to ensure victory in a high-stake game.

Gambhir will be seen taking the role of a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, scheduled to start from March 26.
