Delhi Capitals will look to get back to their winning momentum when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 41 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. Delhi suffered a 15-run loss against Rajasthan Royals, a game marred by a no-ball controversy over a high full toss that resulted in a one-match ban for assistant coach Pravin Amre.

Head coach Ricky Ponting also missed out on the previous game as he was in quarantine and broke a few water bottles and remote control while watching the thrilling encounter against the Royals. But he has joined the camp now and will be available at the dug-out to witness their next game. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders need to get their combination right, and the batters, including skipper Iyer, will have to put up an improved show.

Shreyas failed in the last game, and so did the opening pair of Sam Billings and Sunil Narine. For Shreyas, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer, it won’t be an easy task to outplay in-form Delhi spinners. Kuldeep Yadav has redeemed himself, while the other spinners, Axar Patel and Lalit, have also played their part.

The trio has combined 20 wickets, and their 12 overs would be vital. KKR pacers Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee have been right on the money. The only weak link seems to be Varun Chakravarthy, who has had an underwhelming season.

Delhi’s major concern has been their batters, as Rishabh Pant, Lalit Yadav and Shardul Thakur haven’t played to the best of their potential. Sarfaraz Khan has been hot and cold, and management will hope for a better show from the batter.

David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have provided a solid start to the side at top-of-the-order, but inconsistency has hurt the side. Both the openers will have to bring their best game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
