The buzz around the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup is up and running in full swing after the ICC announced the fixtures for the mega event. The qualifying round is set to commence on October 17 in Oman. However, all eyes will be on the all-important Super 12 stage which is scheduled to begin on October 23, with the matches to be played across three venues in UAE - Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Among all the teams to watch out for, England will certainly be one of them as they go to the mega event as no. 1 ranked T20I team as per ICC rankings. Eoin Morgan's side finished as runner-up in the last edition and are the reigning ODI World Cup champions. Their attacking brand of cricket certainly makes them one of the leading contenders to win the trophy and they will certainly leave no stones unturned to complete the clean sweep of white-ball trophies in successive editions.

England have been placed in Group 1

Having already qualified for Super 12 stage, England have been placed in quite an interesting-looking Group 1 which also features the following teams:

- Australia

- South Africa

- West Indies

- Winner Group A (Qualifiers)

- Runner-up Group B (Qualifiers)

England will play two Super 12 games in Sharjah

Talking about the matches to watch out for, England will lock horns with West Indies on October 23 in a repeat of 2016 finals while they will resume the old rivalry with Australia on October 30 in Dubai. It must also be noted that England will be playing 2 matches each in Dubai and Sharjah, while playing only a solitary game in Abu Dhabi.

With some of the biggest power-hitters of the cricket ball in their side in the form of Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes, there is no doubt that they will be able to exploit the short boundaries of Sharjah in some style.
