Formula 1 is all set to treat its fans with yet another thrilling race at Imola Grand Prix. A straightforward 100km race is scheduled on Saturday afternoon with the final race for scheduled to take place on Sunday. F1 had an epic start to the season in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia, and a race at Imola in Italy will add a feather to its cap.

Imola also hosts the first sprint race of 2022, with three such races scheduled for this edition, following the new format introduced last season. F1's sprint race are shortened version of a typical race, run over a shorter 100 km distance and with no mandatory pitstops, compared to F1's usual 305 km Grand Prix distance. The other two F1 sprint races will be held during the Austrian and Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The sprint race on Saturday starts at 3.30 pm BST and is expected to go around 30 minutes, timed out after 60 minutes in total, and if the session witnesses a red-flag, the maximum total time of the session would be 90 minutes. As the weekend race will follow the 'sprint' method of qualification, there will be two-hour-long practice sessions as opposed to the standard procedure of three hours.

As practice sessions do not include grand any championship points, nor do they set the grid for the race on Sunday, they assist teams in finding their perfect setup for both qualifying and race sessions at GP.

This weekend's practice sessions (namely FP1 and FP2) will be especially valuable as Formula One teams get valuable track time in the new 2022 cars. Ferrari and Red Bull will head into the race as favourites, with the former looking to perform well on one of their home tracks.

Meanwhile, Mercedes are hoping for a better run for their W13, helping Lewis Hamilton and George Russell find success at Imola. Let's narrow down details regarding when and where to watch the historic race.
