India look unstoppable at the moment as after conquering England, they have taken an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Axar Patel snatched the win out of the claws of Windies with his knock of 64*(35). Now, having won the first two games, the third one gives Shikhar Dhawan a chance to test the bench strength. Meanwhile, for West Indies, it poses a challenge to save themselves from a clean sweep and break the 12-match losing streak against India.

Pitch Report

With even bounce, fast outfield, and small boundaries, the Queen Park Oval pitch is a paradise for the batters, as reflected in the first and second ODI. However, bowlers also get their bit with pacers enjoying the swing in the initial part of an inning and spinners exploiting the slowness in the middle overs.

Team Analysis

India

The absence of marquee players seems to be making less of a difference for India as the Men in Blue have taken an unassailable lead against the Windies in their own backyard. India put two emphatic performances in two games to clinch the three-match series. While it was the top order and middle order that did the job in the first match, the middle and lower middle order came to India’s rescue in the second match.

Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, and Axar Patel showed immense maturity to bail India out of trouble. Shikhar Dhawan has also been spot on with his decisions. Now, with one game left before the five T20Is start, India will look to ride on the momentum. The captain and coach may look to make a couple of changes to test the bench strength. Jadeja may make a comeback if he is deemed fit to play.

West Indies

West Indies might have improved their performance as compared to the Bangladesh ODI series, but they are yet to taste a win. It seemed the Nicholas PPooran-led side will get one in the second ODI but that did not happen as Axar Patel played a blinder for India. Nonetheless, there were plenty of positives for the hosts. Shai Hope regained his form with a brilliant century. The bowlers also did a great job to keep West Indies in the hunt till the last ball. Now, the captain would just hope for a win when they face India in the final ODI.

Match Prediction

Conclusion

West Indies might have found their rhythm but the Nicholas Pooran-led side still have plenty to improve. Meanwhile, India have shown that they have enough match winners to help them win in any situation.
