Indian women’s hockey team play out a 1-1 draw with England in their opening Pool B fixture of the FIH Hockey Women's World Cup 2022 at the Wagener Hockey Stadium, Amstelveen in the Netherlands on Sunday. England striker Petter Isabelle gave England a much-needed lead via a field goal in the 8th minute. However, India missed a lot of chances before Vandana Katariya found the equaliser in Quarter 2 after converting a rebound via a penalty corner.

Led by Savita Punia, India aims to better their past performance as they finished fourth during Tokyo Olympics last year. In terms of squad strength, India is without regular captain Rani Rampal, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. In her absence, goalkeeper Savita is leading the side.
