The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is returning for its third edition in 2025. The tournament will take place in the early months of 2025, with five franchises competing for the title. The inaugural season of the WPL took place in 2023. Five franchises from different states of India, including three franchises from the Indian Premier League, participated in the competition.
Currently, five teams are a part of WPL, including the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indian, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriors. Every team is scheduled to play eight matches during the league stage in a round-robin format, which involves two matches against each team. The team that ends up at the top of the points table directly qualifies for the final, while the second and third-placed teams face each other in the play-off for a place in the title clash. The inaugural season of the WPL was won by Mumbai Indians in 2023, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the title in the second edition in 2024.
