Bangladesh will commence the Round 1 of their World T20 campaign on Saturday evening and try to top their Group 1 and proceed to the Super 12 stage. They will be up against Scotland on Day 1 in match number 2 of the world tournament at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman. While Bangla tigers have long shed off the “underdogs” perception about them heading into this competition, they also have recent series wins against teams like New Zealand and Australia to their credit. Scotland, meanwhile, are a little inexperienced when it comes to taking top sides in pressure tournaments and while they have wins against Netherlands and Namibia in the Warm-up fixture, the Test-playing nation of Bangladesh could be a sterner challenge for them.
However, the Scots would take heart from the fact that in the only previous instance of a T20 match between the two sides, it was Scotland who had emerged winners.
The big fantasy pick from Scotland would have to be Mark Watt given his recent form. Watt has been in great wicket-taking form and given that a wicket fetches great points in the fantasy points section, he becomes an automatic pick. The slow left-arm orthodox boxer scalped 4 wickets in the warm-up match against Netherland, also scalping a couple against Namibia. However, the Bangladesh batters are known to be better players of spin bowling. From Bangladesh, Soumya Sarkar could be a safe bet along with the likes of Mustafizur Rahman.
While Shakib Al Hasan did not have the best IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders, he remains one of their marquee players and is expected to bat at number 3 along with bowling his left-arm spin.
