Preview:

The Women's T20 Challenge is headed towards its final match. The best two teams - Supernovas and Velocity - have made it into the Playoffs after three league matches. While the Trailblazers too finished with a win, much like the finalists, their net run rate was inferior to the other two teams which is the reason they could not take part in the summit clash. However, that result has set the stage perfectly for the finale with both the sides heading into this game with a defeat but with a chance to lift the trophy at stake neither team would want to make any mistakes in the summit clash.

Pitch Report:

It has been a great wicket at the MCA Stadium in Pune throughout the season. The average first innings score in this competition so far has been 167.66. The average second innings score has been 146.33. Stroke makers have found value for their shots but having said that even the bowlers who have hit the right line and lengths have tasted success. The balance has slightly been in favour of batters with this season witnessing the highest total in the history of the competition being broken twice.

Team Analysis:

Supernovas:

Supernovas did well in their first match against Trailblazers where they tasted their only win of the season so far. Not only did they choose to bat first - a decision that surprised many but they stuck to their strengths and posted 163 before defending it successfully. The form of their captain Harmanpreet Kaur is the biggest plus for them heading into finale as she ended up as the leading run-getter in both of Supernovas' matches.

But the difference was the support from other batters. While Harleen Deol and Deandra Dottin had also chipped in with 30s when Kaur finished with 37 to help the side cross 160, barring Taniya Bhatia's 32-ball 36 and Sune Luus' unbeaten 20, there was no support from the top-order when Kaur finished with 71. It was Kaur's effort alone that took her toom to 150 after being reduced to 18/3.

In the bowling department, Pooja Vastrakar has been the leading wicket-taker for them and she would have a crucial role to play in the final along with the likes of Sophie Ecclestone and Dottin.

Velocity:

Velocity also tasted one win in their two matches but the advantage for them is the fact that their win came against Supernovas - the same team they will face in the final. Batting has been their strength but bowling could be a cause of concern with their bowlers conceding 150 and 190 in the 2 matches.

Among the batters, Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt scored brisk half-centuries in the first match while Kiran Navgire came good in the second with a good score from Verma as well. Among the bowlers, the onus would be on Kate Cross, Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma.

Moreover, there will be expectations from Simran Bahadur too after she scalped 2 wickets for 31 runs in the defeat against the Trailblazers.

Match Prediction

Conclusion

Velocity will play with confidence having beaten Supenovas earlier in the tournament. They have in-form batters as well as the depth in their bowling attack which can make up for a bad day in the office for one of their experienced bowling options. So Velocity seem to be the favourites to clinch the title.
