The fourth edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge will kick off with the match between Smriti Mandhana’s Trailblazers and Harmanpreet Kaur’s Supernovas. The two-time champions Supernovas will hope to start things on a high while the defending champions Trailblazers will have their eyes set on the title straight away. Also, the battle between the two Indian stalwarts (Kaur and Mandhana) will be one to watch out for.
The MCA Stadium pitch has been famous for supporting batters with the ball coming onto the bat nicely. Bowlers, however, need to put in extra efforts to get something out of the pitches at this venue. So, the match between Trailblazers and Supernovas can be a high-scoring game.
Trailblazers have a good bowling attack with Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Poonam Yadav handling the spin department and Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh, and Hayley Matthews forming the pace attack. However, the batting will be too reliant on their captain Smriti Mandhana. Although Jemimah Rodrigues is there to contribute, the young batter has not been in the best touch in the last few months. Hayley Matthews’ batting prowess will come in handy for the defending champions.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team looks better placed with a lot of multi-dimensional players in the mix. The captain herself had a great run with both bat and ball in the recently concluded ODI World Cup. Deandra Dottin, Sune Luus, and Sophie Ecclestone are valuable picks for the Supernovas. Pooja Vastrakar is also a promising talent with abilities to do damage with both bat and ball.

Priya Punia, Deandra Dottin, Harmanpreet Kaur, Sune Luus, Harleen Deol, Taniya Bhatia, Pooja Vastrakar, Alana King, Sophie Ecclestone, Meghna Singh, Mansi Joshi
Supernovas look like a more settled team as compared to Trailblazers and hence they remain the favorite to win the first match of the Women’s T20 Challenge.
