Mumbai Indians wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan has been in tremendous touch ever since he has got an opportunity to perform for the country. Having displayed his true potential once again in the series against Sri Lanka last month, Kishan managed to smash half-centuries on his T20 and ODI debuts. Not only that, the true aggression showed by Ishan Kishan, reminded cricket fanatics of the legendary Indian captain and wicket-keeper MS Dhoni.

There is no doubt that all young wicket-keepers breaking into the Indian cricket team have huge shoes to fill. However, both Kishan and Dhoni hail from Jharkhand and are mightily aggressive in taking on bowlers. In addition, the young left-handed batting sensation was recently in conversation with former cricketer Aakash Chopra to talk about his similarities with MS Dhoni.

Ishan Kishan reveals how he would seek help from MS Dhoni after sub-standard performance

In a conversation with Aakash Chopra over his bond with MS Dhoni, Kishan spoke highly of the veteran Indian wicket-keeper. The 23-year-old went on to appreciate Captain Cool for never complaining about his batting position and for clinching onto every chance he got. This is something that Kishan also applies whenever he steps onto the crease.

Kishan stated,“There are very few players who can give that much to their countries… We have all seen how he has batted from No.3 to No.6 but never complained and performed wherever he went. That’s something I want to do for the team to – just go out and perform wherever I get an opportunity,”

Furthermore, the 23-years-old also revealed how he would seek the precious advice of the World Cup winning Indian Captain after not being able to consistently perform.

He added, “Whenever I talk to him it’s generally about wicketkeeping or when we meet during the IPL, I share with him whatever I am feeling at that moment. For example, I’ll tell him, ‘Bhaiya, I am not able to perform after 1 good game’ and he’ll say, ‘It might be the case that your hunger goes down after one performance and you are not focusing enough.”

Having said that, Ishan Kishan has given plenty of reasons to the selectors for claiming his spot in the T20 World Cup, which is to be held later this year in UAE. But knowing the stiff competition for his place in the starting XI, he would require some blistering knocks to cement his place.
