Cricket and the world around it is an interesting field to be in. Sometimes, for a good performance, one can be lauded and praised for one's determination and grit on the field but on the other hand, it is very easy for commentators, ex-cricketers, and fans to pass negative comments when the cricketers go on to have a bad day or outing on the pitch.

After being lauded for his performance during the final test, Virat Kohli was the talk of the town for his 79 run knock in the first innings. However, he has been criticised largely for his stump mic comment on Dean Elgar’s DRS call on Day 3 of the final test.

Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir said that Virat Kohli’s outburst on Dean Elgar’s DRS call during the Cape Town Test was unacceptable. This controversial decision fumed India's test captain who vented out on the stump mic. “Focus on your team while they shine the ball. Not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time,” Kohli was heard saying in the stump mic. There was a bitter exchange in the Indian camp, KL Rahul was also agitated and mentioned, "You should find better ways to win, SuperSport."

Worst for an Indian captain to say something like this in stumps: Gambhir

Meanwhile, Gambhir further felt it was very immature of Kohli to show his displeasure on camera. He further felt,"It’s worst for an Indian captain to say something like this in stumps. By doing this you will never be an idol to youngsters."

This is not the first time that Virat Kohli has been in controversy, his comments and opinions have been questioned with the recent captaincy snub decision as well.

From the match perspective, Elgar went on to score 30 runs off 96 balls with the help of three fours before Jasprit Bumrah accounted for his wicket. The Proteas need 111 runs to win the Newlands Test with eight wickets in hand. Keegan Petersen, South Africa’s top scorer in the first innings, is their overnight batter.
