The international cricket calendar is getting more packed before the 2022 T20 World Cup. As reported earlier by SportsTiger, Zimbabwe Cricket Board has now confirmed that the Men in Blue will tour them for a white-ball series in August. India will play three ODIs on their tour to Zimbabwe, the host board confirmed on Tuesday. The Indian team will tour Zimbabwe for the first time in six years, having last toured in 2016 under MS Dhoni.
India will play the three ODIs on 18, 20, and 22 August at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed. The three-match ODI series is part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, a 13-team competition serving as the main route for direct qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 to be staged in India. Zimbabwe are placed 12th with three wins from 15 matches so far.
“A few days later, Zimbabwe will host India for three ODIs to be played on 18, 20, and 22 August, also at Harare Sports Club and starting at 9:15 AM local time,” Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement. Notably, they will host Bangladesh before the series against India.
The last time India toured Zimbabwe was way back in June-July 2016 when the Men in Blue played three ODIs and as many T20Is under MS Dhoni. Post the India series, Zimbabwe will tour Australia where they will play three ODIs in Townsville between August 28 to September 3. Notably, the two countries last played an ODI in a tri-series back in 2014.
