Analysis

After being 76/4, Bangladesh with the help of Liton Das, Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain recovered nicely to seal an emphatic win in the first ODI against the hosts. Liton Das scored a crucial 102 to steady the innings for Bangladesh and get them to 276 at the end of fifty overs. All-rounder Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain contributed some vital runs down the order. In the second innings, it was Shakib Al Hasan who ripped through the Zimbabwean batting unit with figures of 5 for 30.

However, in the second ODI  on Sunday, both teams will be looking to put up a strong batting performance. Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 121 in the first ODI while the top order of Bangladesh did not contribute much to the scoreboard.  The pacers are expected to have a big say in the proceedings with plenty of bounce and swing on offer. The batsmen need to just try and get through the new ball after which batting will be a bit easy on this track. The onus will be on Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Mithun to fire at the top of the order as they seek another win in Zimbabwe.

There will be plenty for the spinners as well on this pitch like Shakib showed in the first game. 250-260 will be a par score on this pitch but a score close to 300 could be a match-winning one. Both teams will look to chase upon winning the toss with the pitch not expected to change much during the game. Meanwhile, the hosts need youngsters such as Dion Myers and Wesley Madhevere to fire to get close to beating the visitors. All in all, another exciting contest is on the cards as both teams eye a defining win.
