After India's tour of West Indies, the Men in Blue's next assignment is a 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe after which they will be competing in Asia Cup 2022. Several senior players of the side have been rested for this tour including Rohit Sharma and it is KL Rahul who will captain the team in the absence of the Hitman with Shikhar Dhawan as his deputy.

The tourists would want to use this series to try out a few things from the team balance's point of view while also keeping in mind the ODI World Cup next year is not too far away. Meanwhile, this would be a golden chance for the hosts who ranked 13th in the world to rub shoulders against two-time World Champions India who are currently placed at number 3 in world rankings.

Before the teams meet for the series opener at the Harare Sports Club, here is a stat-based prediction of what could transpire in the match.

1. Toss Prediction

India won just 1 of the 3 tosses in their last series against West Indies. On the other hand, Zimbabwe won each of their three tosses in their last ODI series against Bangladesh. So going by this stat, predicting Zimbabwe to win the toss.

2. Win Possibility

India will start as overwhelming favourites to win this match. They have dominated this rivalry with them having won 51 of the total 63 ODIs that have been played between these two teams. On 10 occasions though, Zimbabwe has emerged victorious with 2 matches ending in a tie.

3. Team of the Day

The Team of the Day is India. They are the higher ranked team of the two and any result other than a dominant India win would be a massive achievement for Zimbabwe.

4. Powerplay and Average Score

53.33 was India's average score in the first 10 overs in the ODI series against West Indies. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe scored an average of 36.66 in the ODI series against Bangladesh. So expecting India to score more than 50 in the powerplay while Zimbabwe could end up with fewer runs than that. Meanwhile, 283 is the average first innings score at this venue in the last 3 ODIs played here.
