Neeraj Chopra continues his magical run as he won India’s first-ever silver at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon. Chopra was out of the medal race until his third attempt in the men's javelin final. But the Olympic champion turned on his afterburners as he kept the hopes of millions of Indians alive.
But in the do-or-die situation, Neeraj Chopra managed to register an 88.13m throw that pushed him in second place behind Anderson Peters. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist tried his best to beat Peters but failed as he had already thrown over the 90m-mark in the final. Chopra tried for the win in his final two attempts but finished with the silver medal at World Championship.
After this historic finish, fans, sports personalities and celebrities showered praise for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awardee Neeraj Chopra across social media. India Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to appreciate the athlete's achievement.
