Thank you for joining the LIVE UPDATES section of BANGLADESH vs SRI LANKA 2nd ODI. This is Umang Signing off until next time. But Stay tuned to SportsTiger for all the latest news in sports.

Yes! It is confirmed, Bangladesh has won their first bilateral series against Sri Lanka.

After winning the toss, Captain Tamim Iqbal chose to bat on a good looking track. Still, soon 'The Tigers' found themselves in trouble as Chameera struck twice and removed Tamim(13 off 6) and Shakib(duck) in the same over. Then Mr. dependable Mushfiqur came in and managed the innings well; soon in front of him, Bangladesh was reduced 4 for 74 in the 16th over.

Yet, Rahim was unaffected by this situation and scored his 8th century and made 125 runs off 127 balls. Mahmudullah(41) again contributed some crucial runs with the bat, which helped his team reach 246. To be honest, Sri Lanka was again shambolic in batting, but they can still take some positives from their bowling.

When Sri Lanka came to chase, their coach Mickey Arthur would not have thought they would lose this match by a margin of over 100+ runs. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in the 6th over, and from there, that affair continued. Not a single batsmen managed to make a mere score of 30. Or we can say that Bangladeshi bowlers did not let Sri Lankan batters settle at all. It was an absolute fantastic bowling display by them. Hasan Miraz(3-28) and Mustafizur(3-16 from 6 overs) was their best performer with the ball today. Shakib did not have a perfect day with the bat, but he bowled well and picked 2 wickets.

9:28 PM: It's over!! Bangladesh has won the second ODI by 103 runs. An absolute embarrassing performance by the Sri Lankan team.

9:27 PM: Six! Udana hits the second six of the over, he's gonna go down with all guns blazing.

9:21 PM: Catch dropped! Captain Tamim Iqbal drops Chameera but it was a great effort. Sri Lanka is 128 for 9 after 39 overs.

9:19 PM: Match resumes and it has been reduced to 40 overs, Target is 245.

9:00 PM: Good news! Covers are coming off and play can start any moment.

8:38 PM: Play Stopped! Rain has been consistent today like Mehidy and Mustafizur. Bangladesh still needs 1 wicket to clinch their first series against Sri Lanka.

8:34 PM: It's 126 for 9 after 38 overs, 4 runs came off Shakib's over. And it looks impossible for the Lankans to win this game.

8:31 PM: Score does not move for Sri Lanka, after 37 overs they 122-9. A fabulous wicket maiden over by Rahman.

8:27 PM: Wicket!!! Mustafizur gets his third wicket of the match, Sandakan goes for 4(7), caught at mid-on.

Only a miracle can stop Bangladesh to win their first bilateral series against Sri Lanka. They need 1 wicket to win the series.

After 35 overs it's 118 for 8, 4 runs and a wicket coming off that over.

8:20 PM: Wicket! Mustafizur removes Bandara for 15 who is caught at mid-off by Mahmudullah.

7:55 PM: Just as I mentioned his name, Hasaranga is out in the middle. It's 106 for 6 after 30 overs.

7:51 PM: Wicket!!!! Shanaka tries to play a slog sweep but mistimed it and the ball went up in the air which is comfortably caught by Mahmudullah.

Bandara and Shanaka are trying to build a partnership here if they can keep the fight up. Hasaranga can give Sri Lanka a give chance to win who is yet to come at the crease.

7:45 PM: It's 102 for 5 after 28 overs, Mehidy again keeps it tight.

7:41 PM: After 27 overs, it's 99-5, 8 runs coming off Shakib's over including a six. The required rate has moved up to 6.43.

7:27 PM: After 23 overs it's 86 for 4, 5 runs coming off this over.

Sri Lanka needs a good partnership right now, Every batter is getting into double figures but failing to capitalize on that.

7:10 PM: Wickett!!!!! Shakib's bowled a length ball, Nissanka tries to go for a biggie but the ball went high in the air and into the hands of Captain Tamim who juggled it twice before getting the hold of it.

7:06 PM: After 18 overs, Taskin disciplined bowling keeps it tight and gave away only 3 runs. It's 70 for 2.

7:03 PM: After 17 overs, Sri Lanka moves their score to 67-2, 8 runs coming off that over.

7:00 PM: Six!!!!! Kusal Mendis pounces on a full-toss by Shakib and gets six runs.

06:54 PM: After 15 overs, Sri Lanka moves their score to 55-2. The current run rate is 3.66.

Hello and welcome to the LIVE UPDATES section of BANGLADESH V SRI LANKA 2nd ODI. Stay connected to this space to get all the updates related to the game, be it the players' availability or the fresh COVID cases in the camp, something that has been quite common in this new normal.

In the second ODI of Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh, the hosts must be having added confidence. Bangladesh displayed a dominant brand of cricket in the 1st ODI and beat Sri Lanka by 33 runs. The Tigers certainly have the upper hand heading into the second contest and Sri Lanka will have to punch above their weight in order to win the game. The match is slated to begin at 12:30 PM (IST).

12:02 PM: Bangladesh have won the toss and opted to bat first. Debut for Shoriful Islam.

11:57 AM: Minutes away from the toss and Team News! STAY TUNED!

11:10 AM: Bangladesh are unlikely to mess with their winning XI and it's difficult to foresee a change in their team. On the other hand, Sri Lanka can look to include Niroshan Dickwella who was impressive in the intra squad practice match.

10:55 AM: Sri Lanka are clearly trusting the youth and building a team for the future. But they desperately need wins under their belt in the short term as well. As of now they are 12th out of 12 in the ODI Super League, having lost all four matches so far. Will they find a hero today?

10:40 AM: Meanwhile, although Bangladesh were able to clinch a win in the end, they would look to address the cluster of wickets that fall during their innings and have cost them in the past. Even in the first game of the series, the hosts were reeling at 99/4 at one stage in 23 overs but thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim's knock, they managed to post a competitive total and later defend it successfully. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan was not too impressed with the side's shot selection. "There’s no point bringing a good coach if this is their shot selection," he was quoted as saying.

10:25 AM: For Sri Lanka, the onus is definitely on the openers Kusal Perera and Danushka Gunathilaka to try and bat deep into the innings especially when they seem to be struggling in the middle overs. In addition, Wanindu Hasaranga, the only real positive for the visitors from the opening ODI as far as their batting is concerned, can be trusted to come ahead in the batting order for this crunch game.

10:10 AM: It's Match Day (25th May)

We are hours away from Live Action at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. While Bangladesh would be pumped to seal the series with a win, its a must-win game for Sri Lanka to stay alive in the series.

09:40 PM: Will weather spoil the party in Dhaka?

The weather forecast for the 2nd ODI is not very ideal. There is a prediction of scattered thunderstorms throughout the day in Dhaka and there are 50% chances of rain as well. It could well turn out to be a rain-affected contest on Tuesday and there is a possibility of DLS coming into play.

08:30 PM - Saifuddin reflects on his performance in the 1st ODI

Bangladesh's all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin had a good outing with both bat and ball in Dhaka on Sunday. After playing an unbeaten 13-run knock in the first innings, the 24-year-old registered figures of 2/49 while bowling.

Reflecting on his performance, he said, "I wasn't getting games against West Indies and New Zealand. I was desperate to come back and I wanted to play right from the beginning. I had already set a goal back home. The first ODI went well. I will try to continue this in the next games."

05:48 PM - Have a look at what Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said after winning the game on Sunday.

04:55 PM - What about Mustafizur Rahman's injury?

Here is the update:

Analysis:

Bangladesh, having leapfrogged into the 4th position of the Super League table, are a serious force to reckon with. Skipper Tamim Iqbal was elated at the post-match presentation as he highlighted the fact that Bangladesh won a game after 10 losses across formats. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with 84 and his handy knock bode well for the team. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4 wickets.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s refurbished side did not deliver on the expectations of new captain, Kusal Perera. Wanindu Hasaranga’s heroic knock of 74 (60) went in vain as Bangladesh bowlers sent shivers down the spine of the Sri Lankan batsmen. Meanwhile, Dhananjaya de Silva was the standout bowler for the island nation in the first game.

Probable Playing XI:

Bangladesh

Tamim Iqbal (c), Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Mohammad Mithun/Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.
