Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spent a huge sum of money to get Deepak Chahar back in their hut for the next three years. But it seems that their most expensive bowler will not be with them for the entire season when IPL 2022 begins. According to a recent report, Deepak Chahar may miss the entire tournament with the hamstring injury he suffered while playing for India.

The Times of India has reported that the pacer can be ruled out from the entire tournament. "His injury looks bad. For all you know, he could be out of the IPL too (he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore in the IPL auction)," a source was quoted saying. Notably, Chahar has suffered a right quadriceps injury while bowling in the third T20I at the Eden Gardens.

"Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement. "They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries," he added.

CSK in trouble!

If Deepak Chahar misses the entire tournament, it will be a huge loss for the MS Dhoni-led team as the pacer played a pivotal role in CSK's win last year. In the last twelve months, Chahar has also worked on his batting and has played some really good knocks for the national team. This was a big reason behind CSK's fierce bidding for him at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In case Chahar misses, CSK don't have an ideal replacement.
