The Indian cricket team etched history on Sunday, September 28 as they defeated Pakistan by five wickets to claim their ninth Asia Cup title. Coming into the continental tournament as the most successful side, India continued their dominance in the shortest format of the game, as they finished unbeaten while lifting their record ninth title.

While the victory will be a one to remember, this time like their previous two matches against Pakistan, the match once again was marred with controversies. Amidst all this, senior Bollywood celebrity and an icon from the film industry, Amitabh Bachchan took to X to congratulate Team India while mocking Pakistan.

Well played Abhishek Bachchan: Big B mocks Pakistan after Asia Cup 2025 final defeat

Taking to X, he captioned the post, “T 5516(i) - जीत गये !! .. well played 'Abhishek Bachchan' .. उधर ज़बान लड़खड़ाई , और इधर , बिना batting bowling fielding किए , लड़खड़ा दिया दुश्मन को !!  बोलती बंद !! जय हिन्द ! जय भारत ! जय माँ दुर्गा !!!!” Notably the post from Big B came after former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar had a hilarious slip up while referring to Abhishek Sharma as Abhishek Bachchan.

Speaking on live TV during a cricket talk show Game On Hai, Akhtar remarked, "If Pakistan get Abhishek Bachchan out early in a hypothetical situation, then what is going to happen with the middle order? Their middle order hasn't performed well." While the panel quickly burst out in a laugh, other guests quickly corrected him for the same. However, hours after the incident, the B-town celebrity Abhishek Bachchan, who is known for his sharp humour and engaging presence on X, responded with a light-hearted quip, "Sir, with all due respect, don't think they'll even manage that! And I'm not even good at playing cricket."

Speaking of Abhishek Sharma, the top-ranked T20I batter won the Player of the Series award after finishing among the highest run-getter in the Asia Cup 2025. While he became the first player to cross 300 runs in the tournament, he finished with 314 runs to his name in seven innings at an average of 44.85.
