Netizens were all praise for star bowler Mohammed Siraj for his defensive play during the second Test against Sri Lanka. In the second of the two-game World Test Championship Test series, team India opted to bat first and posted a mammoth total of 503 runs with the loss of nine wickets. Indian batters came together to deliver combined efforts and give the side an upper hand following a huge 165-run win in the first game of the series. On the opening day, Devdutt Padikkal recorded his second successive Test hundred, whereas on the second day, it was Dhruv Jurel who took the spotlight with his unbeaten 115.

However, Jurel’s hundred came with a few distractions as rain continued to play a spoilsport throughout the day. While the No. 7 batter was on 95, the umpires called for an early tea break due to high winds and darkening skies, before rain intensified and prompted the ground staff to cover the entire playing area. Not only this, but as play resumed, it took Jurel 13 deliveries to get from 99 to 100. Nevertheless, as the youngster reached the milestone, the entire dressing room, along with Siraj, on the other end, erupted in celebration.

The fast bowler came towards Jurel and engulfed him into a warm hug, and it didn’t take for the fans to notice the wholesome reaction by the pacer. Moreover, netizens also lauded how Siraj used his defensive play and blocked 29 deliveries to help his teammate reach the milestone. This is not it, some also recalled the same role played by ‘DSP Siraj’ as he is fondly called to help Ravichandran Ashwin and Nitish Reddy reach their hundreds back in the 2021 England Test and 2024 Australia Test, respectively.
