Bangladesh are coming after a thrilling win over Sri Lanka in the first game of the Super 4s stage of Asia Cup 2025. They made into the Super 4s by defeating Afghanistan and Hong Kong in the group stage fixtures. Their next match is scheduled to take place at the Dubai international stadium on September 24 which will be a super-four clash against the mighty Indian cricket team who are still unbeaten in the tournament.
However, the Bangladesh cricket team are now in serious dilemma as their captain and top-order batsman Litton Das has reportedly suffered an injury scare ahead of the super-four clash against India. The 30-year-old has reportedly suffered a blow to his left rib during a practice session ahead of the most-awaited clash in Dubai. He was reportedly lying on the ground in pain until the Bangladesh Cricket Board doctor and physio Bayzid Ul Islam rushed onto the field to assist him.
We need to conduct a medical assessment before making a final call: BCB official
Litton Das managed to stay on the ground for some time after the injury scare, however he was not seen practicing after the incident. According to recent reports from Cricbuzz, a BCB official has stated, "We will have a look at him (Litton) today because from outside he looks quite okay, but we need to conduct a medical assessment before making a final call." The question which arises if Litton Das is ruled out is who will lead the team in the upcoming clashes as Bangladesh have come into the tournament without a vice-captain.
If the Captain stays out of the clash due to the injury, it will be a massive blow for the Bangladesh team as he is currently the 2nd highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in the tournament with 119 runs in four matches, just eight runs behind their leading run-scorer Towhid Hridoy who has 127 runs to his name at the moment. It will be interesting to see if he recovers and starts in the super-four clash.
