Former West Indies cricketer and one of the legends of the game, Chris Gayle recently revealed some eye-opening stories from his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint. Gayle, who is fondly known as ‘Universe Boss’, boasts of some exciting numbers in the cash-rich league. Having played around 142 matches during his stint from 2009 to 2021, Gayle has amassed 4965 runs.

During his time in the IPL, he has played for three franchises - Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings, with his final appearance coming in 2021 with PBKS. While he has several records to his name, he is reckoned for his fastest T20 century, which came off just 30 balls and the mosts sixes in the league.

Recently, the 45-year-old appeared in podcast with Shubhankar Mishra and diclosed some shocking stories and also hinted on his availability to play the tournament. While Gayle revealed the reason behind his premature exit from Punjab Kings, which left everyone in utter shock, he was also enquired about his future in IPL.

In a quick rapid fire, when Shubhankar Mishra quickly asked why does not he return to the IPL, Gayle quickly quipped, “I was mistreated. I am available—if they want me, I’ll come. But yes, I do have grudges. Loyalty means a lot to me.”

It is to be noted that Gayle last appeared in Kings XI Punjab’s (now Punjab Kings) game against Mumbai in 2021 and decided to leave the camp mid-way during the second phase, which took place in the UAE.
