Team India pacer Prasidh Krishna spoke about his verbal altercation which happened with England legend Joe Root during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Krishna and Root looked competitive and performed superbly for their respective teams during the five-match Test series. In the final Test played at The Oval, both players exchanged words with each other. The incident attracted a lot of attention. Weeks after the conclusion of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Krishna spoke to ESPNcricinfo and disclosed the details about the incident.
The India speedster revealed that he said to the England legend that he is in great shape and following this, the communication between both went wrong. “I don’t know why Rooty reacted that way. I just said, ‘you’re looking in great shape,’ and suddenly it turned into a lot of abuse and all of that. I went and spoke to most of them – including Root. I asked him what happened. He said, ‘I thought you abused me.’ I said, ‘No,’ and he replied, ‘I just wanted to get myself going as well, so I had to pump myself up,” said Krishna.

India are currently in the third spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table, amassing 28 points with two wins in five contests.
