The Indian football fans will be relieved that a broadcasting deal has been almost confirmed for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Zee Entertainment Enterprises has reportedly made a move to secure the broadcasting deal to stream the marquee sporting event. The deal is estimated to be valued around USD 30-35 million and that is a fine price-cut. The official announcement is set to come through within a couple of days and the fans will be eagerly waiting for it. There were negotiations by other streaming platforms as well but it proved to be unsuccessful. Zee will be expected to stream the game live in their sports section while offering coverage in multiple languages as well.

In the previous edition of the World Cup as well, we witnessed a similar trend when Jio waited for FIFA to lower down their prices and then pounced on a fairly good deal. But this time around, the negotiations between the conglomerates have not turned out to be successful. JioHotstar did initially explore the option and they got into discussions as well but the deal didn’t go through. Sony Entertainments also seemed interested for a brief moment but they didn’t have any negotiations to put forward. As it stands, Zee seems to be clear from any competitors and they could secure the deal.

The deal has been reportedly agreed for a lump sum amount of USD 30-35 million and this could be a grand entry for Zee into the world of sports streaming. Zee is expected to stream all the 104 matches of the tournament live across its recently unveiled sports network under the Unite8 Sports brand. Almost every Indian football fan has begun to question the excitement levels of the fans in the country as even with less than two weeks to go, there seems to be no build-up. This broadcasting deal could be a massive sigh of relief for the fans as they have got their main problem sorted.
