Former Sri Lankan international cricketer Farveez Maharoof was recently seen in attendance at the CLT10 League where he was asked about his opinions and perspectives mainly about the Indian Cricket team. was an all-rounder who played Test and ODI’s for Sri Lanka. The 40-year-old was part of the Sri-Lankan team which finished as the runners-up in 2007. He currently plays the role of an International cricket commentator for Sri Lanka.
The former Sri Lankan all-rounder was asked which Indian player he likes the most to which his answer was Yashasvi Jaiswal. He stated that he has deep admiration for Yashasvi Jaiswal as he is a talented, young and fearless batsman and when he is in full swing no bowler can stop him. Maharoof also stated that it was just a matter of time that he will be selected in the T20 squad of India again after missing out on getting selected for the Asia Cup 2025.
Maharoof considers Indian cricket team as ‘clear favourites’ to win the Asia Cup 2025
Farveez Maharoof backs the Indian Cricket team to go all the way in the Asia Cup 2025 and terms them as ‘clear favorites’ to win the tournament. Speaking about the best bowling lineup in the Asia Cup, Maharoof stated that,“It's hard to say which pace attack (is best placed). But I think certainly India has a good set-up with Bumrah in. Pakistan is also up there. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are equal. So probably India and Pakistan are equal, then Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are equal.”
Maharoof also spoke about the value that Jasprit Bumrah brings to the Indian cricket team and stated that if the BCCI is able to manage his workload consistently he will be the x-factor for the Indian Cricket team for many more years to come. The former all-rounder also explained the reasons behind the constant injury struggles for Jasprit Bumrah.
