After Yuzvendra Chahal and Ishan Kishan, another Team India stalwart Washington Sundar will also be seen in the County Championship 2025. Hampshire have signed all-rounder Washington Sundar for their final two matches of the County Championship 2025 season. Currently, Team India are busy in their Asia Cup 2025 campaign and Sundar is not a part of the side. During this period, Sundar will be serving the English county side against Somerset and Surrey. Sundar played county cricket in 2022 as well. Three years back, he served Lancashire in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup.
Discussing his recent contract with Hampshire, his stint will start on September 15 when the team will take on Somerset in Taunton. After signing Washington Sundar, Hampshire’s Director of Cricket, Giles White praised the 25-year-old all-rounder and expected him to make an impact in the couple of matches. “We’re delighted to bring Washington to the club for the County Championship. He had an excellent series against England this summer, and he’ll play a key role with two big games coming up against Somerset and Surrey;” said Giles to BBC Sport.
Washington Sundar looked effective for India in the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy 2025
In the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Washington Sundar looked fine as an all-rounder. The youngster played a crucial role in saving India from the series defeat with his match-saving ton in the fourth Test played in Manchester. With Ravindra Jadeja, he built a 203-run stand for the fifth wicket which helped India to secure a draw.
Discussing his overall performance, he racked up 248 runs and seven wickets in four contests. He will be crucial for India in the upcoming red-ball assignment against the West Indies and South Africa at home.
