In the 11th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 held in Guwahati, New Zealand pummelled Bangladesh and registered a 100-run triumph at the Barsapara Stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand lost their top-order batters Georgia Plimmer (four off 18) and Suzie Bates (29 off 33) within the opening powerplay. During the 11th over, Amelia Kerr also fell against Rabeya Khatun and returned to the pavilion after scoring only one off 10. In the pressure situation, skipper Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday built a 112-run partnership off 165 balls. Fahima Khatun got rid of Halliday, who concluded her innings after amassing 69 off 104.
Skipper Devine also made a vital contribution of 63 off 85. Her knock was studded with four boundaries (two fours and two maximums). Eventually, New Zealand put up a total of 227/9 after 50 overs. Rabeya Khatun claimed 3/30 figures in her 10 overs and emerged as the most impactful bowler for the Bangladesh team. Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter, Nishita Akter Nishi, and Fahima Khatun got one wicket apiece.
New Zealand bundled out Bangladesh on 127 in Guwahati
Chasing the target, Bangladesh’s top five batters couldn’t score in double digits. Contributions from Fahima (34 off 80), Nahida (17 off 32), and Rabeya (25 off 39) helped Bangladesh reach 127 in 39.5 overs. Halliday became the player of the match (POTM) for her stunning batting display.
Bangladesh's next clash is against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on October 13 while New Zealand will square off against Sri Lanka on October 14. New Zealand are now in fifth place with two points earned through three matches. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are in the sixth spot with two points racked up through one victory in three outings.
