After the fourth day of the second Test between India and West Indies in Delhi, the former are on the verge of winning the series as they are only 58 runs away from claiming the game. After ending their third day on 173/2 in 49 overs, West Indies batters John Campbell and Shai Hope were expected to show fighting spirit and take the game deep. Campbell went on to score his maiden red-ball ton and Hope also hammered his third Test century. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj stepped up and got rid of Campbell and Hope respectively.
Captain Roston Chase also played a 40-run innings but his innings concluded as Kuldeep Yadav got him caught at the hands of substitute fielder Devdutt Padikkal. With the Windies side reeling on 311/9, Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales stepped up and racked up 50* (85) and 32 (67) respectively. West Indies eventually put up a total of 390 runs in the second innings and delivered a target of 121 runs to the hosts. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets apiece in the innings.
India expected to finish the game in the final day’s opening session
Pursuing the target, India lost their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was dismissed after amassing eight off seven. The southpaw was looking to finish the game at a brisk pace and while attempting to play a huge shot, Jaiswal got caught at the deep against Jomel Warrican.
KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan are batting at 25*(54) and 30* (47) respectively. Both players will look to end the game in the opening session of the final day. If India beat the Windies side on the fifth day, they will register a 2-0 lead and record their maiden series triumph during the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
