Former Team India all-rounder Irfan Pathan extended birthday wishes to speedster Mohammed Shami. Shami, who is out of action in international cricket for the last six months, turned 35 on September 3. Both Irfan and Shami have amiable relations with each other. Irfan recently hit the headlines for his five-year-old interview in which he is perceived to be taking dig at ex-India skipper MS Dhoni. However, after the video resurfaced on social media, the 40-year-old tagged the CSK legend to control the situation. Before his old viral clip, Irfan also grabbed attention for his remark on Rohit Sharma, in which he said that the star opener would’ve dropped from the Test side, if he wasn’t India’s captain then.

Discussing Irfan’s X post on Mohammed Shami’s birthday, the legend wrote, “Wishing the seam king @MdShami11 a very happy birthday. Looking forward to see your bowling for India again soon. Have a great one.” Shami played his last game for Team India in the Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand in Dubai.

Mohammed Shami’s recent performances

Mohammed Shami’s recent outing was for the East Zone against the North Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2025 quarter-final held from August 28 to 31. In the game, he could pick up only one wicket. Earlier, the pacer couldn’t make it to India’s squad for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 played in England from June 20 to August 4.

However, forgetting his previous failures, he will be expected to be at his best to make a comeback in India colours again. With India set to host South Africa in November-December and the T20 World Cup 2026, he will look to break into the national side’s squad. In India’s Champions Trophy 2025 success, he clinched nine wickets in five games at an economy of 5.68.
