The 3 match T20I series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe is all set to commence from September 3rd. The iconic venue of Harare Sports club in Harare is set to host the T20Is between both the teams. Sri Lanka have already announced their 17 member squad for the upcoming series which will also be their time to prepare for the Asia Cup 2025 as it begins from 9th September, just a couple of days after the series against Zimbabwe.

However, The 28-year-old bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has not been announced in the squad yet again. Hasaranga suffered a hamstring injury in July while playing a T20I series against Bangladesh and has not featured in a single match for Sri Lanka since then. This also means that he might not be a part of the squad for the Asia Cup 2025 and Sri Lanka will have to rely on their available spinners Dunnith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana to fill the void left by the absence of Hasaranga in the team.

All-rounder Charith Asalanka has been announced as the Captain for the Zimbabwe series

The experienced all-rounder Charith Asalanka will continue to lead the Sri Lankan team as he has been announced as the captain for the Zimbabwe tour and is likely to be the one to lead the team in the Asia Cup 2025 as well. Another exciting news is that there is a place for the pacer Matheesha Pathirana in the squad. Pathirana had missed the last two ODI matches for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe. However, his inclusion will add a lot of value to the Sri Lankan team.
