Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is known for his antics off the field which keeps the fans entertained apart from his fiery batting. Notably, during the 17th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024, Virat Kohli gifted Rinku his bat after the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Knight Riders that year. However, another video went viral before both the teams locked horns for the second time in the season, where Rinku was seen asking another from Kohli.

Now, more than one year after that incident, Rinku Singh revealed that this had put him in the bad light. Rinku said that he normally met Virat Kohli and asked him for a bat but it wasn’t perceived well. “Main thoda zyada badnaam ho gaya tha bat ke chakkar mai (I became infamous because of the bat). I used to meet him (Kohli) normally and then asked for a bat. The cameraman would follow me. It wasn’t being perceived well. It wasn’t good for me and bhaiya (Kohli) too as videos of bat were going viral,” Rinku told News24 Sports.

I do give bats to those who need them: Rinku Singh

Although, RInku Singh didn’t get a bat from Virat Kohli during IPL 2024, his wish was fulfilled by other two legends of the Indian Cricket team a year later during IPL 2025. Rinku revealed that he got bats from MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma during IPL 2025. He also revealed that he give those bats to young players who truly need them.

“I wasn’t seen with Virat bhai this time (IPL 2025). I did get Mahi bhai’s bat and Rohit bhai’s bat. It’s a big deal for me getting the bats from such players,” Rinku said.

“I have given a lot of bats myself. I do give bats to those who need them but those who have contracts, I don’t,” he further added.
